Founded in 1996 by a group of university students in Medellin, Colombia, Poder Joven is a preventative program that helps at-risk children find an alternative to the streets. Poder Joven not only provides them with a safe place to go before and after school, but also with much needed medical care, dental care, psychological counseling, homework help, esteem- building activities, and two daily meals.

Many of Poder Joven's services are made possible by individuals participating in their Godparent Program. For more information on contributing to this programs please visit our Special Projects page. (link to "Special Projects page")
